Using a guide
Check the intended audience, activity, jurisdictional limitations and review date. Guidance supports professional judgement; it does not replace local requirements or instructions for a particular product or device.
Use the guide to examine a decision in your own setting: what is the task, who is affected and what evidence is needed to act responsibly? Where the guide and a local requirement appear to differ, establish which requirement applies before proceeding. Record the reason for an important professional decision rather than relying on a completed checklist alone.
Evidence and review
Each guide identifies its sources and responsible reviewer. Advice is revised when evidence or applicable requirements change. Superseded versions are labelled in the archive.
Questions and corrections
