Appeals

An appeal asks for review of an eligible formal decision under an EUBF scheme.

Appeals

Grounds and deadline

Submit an appeal within 28 calendar days of notification of the decision. Identify the ground and explain its possible effect on the outcome:

  • Procedural error: a required part of the applicable process was not followed.
  • Material factual error: the decision relied on information that was wrong in a way that could affect the result.
  • Relevant new evidence: explain what it shows and why it could not reasonably have been supplied earlier.
  • Undisclosed conflict of interest: identify the relationship or interest and why it is relevant to the decision.

Connect the evidence to the ground you are raising. A different preferred outcome, without an eligible ground, is not sufficient for an appeal.

Submit an appeal

Independent review

The appeal is considered by reviewers who did not make the original decision and have no conflicting interest. They may uphold or vary the decision, or refer it back for reconsideration.

Timing and fees

There is no fee to submit an appeal. We acknowledge receipt within five working days and normally check eligibility within ten working days. We aim to provide a reasoned outcome within 30 working days after accepting the complete appeal.

Effect of an appeal

The original decision remains in effect unless a written interim measure states otherwise. Any extension or further review route is explained in writing.
